Lila Ghising
Advocacy Services Program Director and Women’s Advocate
Experience
Life is not all about me. I am destining to serve women and children who are surviving violence. My goal is to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment to the survivors while treating them with great compassion and understanding. I start with what they have and what they know, then support them in creating empowering relationships and inspire them to become strong and independent individuals in the community.
I have spent approximately eight years working with women and children in social services in various roles. My responsibilities have included: advocacy and program management (domestic & international), training in rehabilitation, advocacy and education for survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence. I served in Nepal and India for five years rescuing women and children who had been involved in human trafficking. I founded a non-profit organization to address and prevent violence against women and children. I worked at the Salvation Army for two years as a Domestic Violence Advocate. Through my many experiences working with women, I am skilled at crisis intervention, safety planning, case management, and one on one emotional support and coaching. I am very aware of the public and welfare system as well as available resources.
Education and Training
I obtained my Bachelors Degree (BA) in Theology from Southern Asia Bible College in Bangalore, India. Currently, I am a part time student at the Bakke Graduate University in Seattle, WA, working on my Masters of Art in Social Civic and Entrepreneurship (MASCE).
